DRUMSQUAD is very excited to reveal the launch of a brand new community drumming group in Stratford-upon-Avon!

Thanks to the generosity and support of the lovely folks at Stratford PlayHouse, we now have the perfect venue for this new drummer's club. Below you'll see a video of the very first free Taster session, plus details of what's coming up next!

Our first 5 week course on African drumming has now been and gone. It's been a fantastic start to this new community group, covering a lot of ground on technique, time-keeping, phrasing, memory recall, and diagnosing barriers to progress. The result? A super-groovy, multi-part rhythm called Nakan, complete with a long, intricate unison introduction section. This was filmed at the end of our course, and the video will be available here and on social media soon.

So what's next? Well, lockdown and the ever-changing Covid situation makes that tricky to answer, but both DrumSquad and The PlayHouse remain committed to the cause, and are lining up content for future courses, ready to launch as soon as restrictions are lifted. The next 5 Weeker will be looking at Brazilian Samba drumming, most likely in Jan 2021, which will lead up nicely to the annual Rio Festival in February. There's also the chance for a DrumSquad Christmas Special, if lockdown is lifted in early December as planned. Sleigh bells at the ready!

Adults (18+) - Mondays 6pm - 7:30pm

Both DrumSquad and The PlayHouse take the safety of our drummers very seriously, and are planning these events very carefully to ensure safety and peace of mind at all times.

We monitor the government Covid 19 regulations and advice daily to make sure all the classes are compliant and well-organised.  One way systems are already in use at the venue, hand gel is available at the door, social distancing will be implemented throughout the sessions, and all instruments and accessories will be disinfected with certified Covid anti-viral wipes.  We ask that you please wear a mask if you are able to.

Drums are loud and potentially damaging, especially over long-periods, so ear protection is highly advised. DrumSquad will provide a choice of adjustable ear-defenders (disinfected before every use, and 4 Day Safe) or sealed, disposable foam ear-plugs. Some people, especially children, find these difficult to use, hence the ear defender option. You may of course bring your own ear defenders from home if you wish. All instruments and equipment are kept in good condition and are safety-checked before every use.

Child & Vulnerable Adults Safety

All workshop leaders and PlayHouse staff are Advanced DBS Background checked and certified, and are fully insured for Public Liability. Government guidelines for child-to-supervisor ratios will be followed at all times and emergency contact information will be taken in advance.
